# How to disable Webchat on a website without touching the code

Lost access to the site where Webchat is installed? Create a new credential and replace the connection credential so the widget stops being displayed.

In some cases, the Webchat script is already installed on a site that you **no longer have access to** or **no longer control**: an old site, a page published by an agency or by a vendor you no longer have contact with. Without access to the source code, it is not possible to simply delete the code snippet from the page.

The good news is that you can solve this **from the Hablla side**, without depending on anyone.

{% hint style="info" %}
Looking for something else? If what you want is **delete the entire connection** from your Hablla, see [How to delete a Webchat connection](/hablla-docs-en/hablla/settings/connections-and-integrations/webchat/como-excluir-uma-conexao-de-webchat.md).
{% endhint %}

## How it works

The script installed on the site is linked to the **credential** of your Webchat connection. By creating a new credential and replacing it within the connection, the code left on that site is no longer recognized and the widget stops loading on the page.

In other words: instead of removing the code from the site, you **invalidate** the code that is there.

{% hint style="danger" %}
Changing the credential invalidates the script in **all places** where that same code was installed. If the Webchat for that connection is published on more than one site or page, the others will also stop working, and it will be necessary to update them with the new integration script.
{% endhint %}

{% step %}

### 1. Create a new Webchat credential

**1.1.** In the side menu of your workspace settings, go to the option <kbd>**Credentials**</kbd>

**1.2.** Click the button **+ New Credential** in the top right corner of the screen and, in the window that opens, look for the option <kbd>***Create webchat credential***</kbd>

**1.3.** Fill in the **Name** of the credential and the **Identification Token** and then click the button **Save** in the bottom right corner of the screen, as shown in the GIF below:

<figure><img src="https://1879311494-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FrmxWrIrMauHcIrsuqfGq%2Fuploads%2FCX1QFNllBTGycUvol14A%2F[DOCS]%20-%20Como%20criar%20credential%20webchat.gif?alt=media&#x26;token=dc377619-1a71-4e4e-9d8c-a9ed83e93457" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
Use a name that helps you identify this change later, such as <kbd>**New Site Webchat**</kbd>.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### 2. Replace the credential in the Webchat connection

**2.1.** Go to <kbd>**Connections and Integrations**</kbd> and open the Webchat connection that is installed on the site you want to deactivate.

**2.2.** Click the button <kbd>**Edit**</kbd> in the top right corner of the connection settings.

**2.3.** In the side panel that opens, select the **new credential** that you created in the previous step and click **Save**, as shown in the GIF below:

<figure><img src="https://1879311494-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FrmxWrIrMauHcIrsuqfGq%2Fuploads%2F2P3Hm3nFlKDxVTsEzwQy%2F[DOCS]%20-%20Vinculando%20a%20Credencial%20ao%20Webchat.gif?alt=media&#x26;token=b23f40a5-63ad-4195-88bf-c87a9e4604c9" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### 3. Confirm that the Webchat is no longer displayed

Go to the site where the Webchat was installed and check whether the widget has stopped loading. Consider propagation time and, if necessary, reload the page after clearing the browser cache.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## What if I want to reactivate the Webchat on another site?

Just copy again the **Integration Script** in the connection's additional settings. After the credential change, the code shown there will already be updated and ready to be installed on the new site.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.hablla.com/hablla-docs-en/hablla/settings/connections-and-integrations/webchat/como-desativar-o-webchat-em-um-site-sem-mexer-no-codigo.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
